Family and domestic violence (FDV) are significant public health and social issues. They include intimate partner violence (IPV)—violence between two intimate partners; and family violence (FV)—violence between family members other than intimate partners. National Drug Law Enforcement Research Fund – survey results show that alcohol was involved in 34% of IPV incidents, and 29% of FV incidents. Thirteen% of IPV and 12% of FV incidents were drug-related (ie consumed by someone involved in the incident).
